Here are my top ten picks for bands this weekend that will be having can’t miss performances:
Horse Feathers: They’re an indie folk band from Portland Oregon. Their sound is unique and a sure-fire way to way to have a good time. Horse Feathers play at Mikey’s Gyros at 11 p.m. on Saturday.
Holiday Friends: An indie rock band that formed when the band members where going to school at the University of Idaho. The sound will sure be great but attending this University of Idaho grown band will be even greater. Holiday Friends play at 10:15 p.m. at One World Café on Saturday.
Maita: This is an indie songwriter with strong vocals through a wide range styles that she plays. Maita plays at Mikey’s Gyros at 8: 30 p.m. on Saturday as a part of a duo and at 8:30 p.m. Sunday as the first act of the headlining performance at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Center.
The Shivas: A rock band from Portland, Oregon. They have traveled to almost 50 states and over 25 countries. They have an upbeat sound that’s sure to lend for some good dancing. The Shivas play at Humble Burger at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Sunbathe: A pop band that has been referred to as “one of today’s most promising acts”. Now if that doesn’t convince you go, I don’t know what will. Sunbathe plays at Mikey’s Gyros at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Antonioni: A indie rock band that has in my opinion the strongest vocals out of the whole lineup. Their strengths are found in the instruments but also in the clear song writing ability of the band. Antonioni plays at Bitterroot Tattoo at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Amenta Abioto: As a songwriter from Memphis Tennessee you would expect her to be a country singer however, she plays music ranging from gospel to jazz. Amenta Abioto plays at Humble Burger at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Monica: Monica is an indie rock group that also plays soft melodies. Monica either ranges from a band known as “Monica and the Shy Boys” to her solo performances. Monica plays at 3 p.m. at Humble Burger on Sunday.
Help Yourself: A band made up of three brothers from Moscow that play pop music. This is another great opportunity to support a home-grown band. Help Yourself plays at Bitterroot Tattoo at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The entire Kenworthy Headlining show: This performance is a can’t-miss. Featuring the acts Maita, Sama Dams and Ural Thomas and the Pain. This show will offer a wide variety of sound and is sure to be a good time. The Kenworthy headlining show starts at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
