For the first version of the Music Director’s biweekly playlist, I wanted to choose a good mix of new and old-sounding songs. In terms of new music, there are recent releases by Knxwledge, Nicolas Jaar and Merzbow.
Alongside these tracks are ones that call to a time not yet explored — with many vaporwave cuts that bleed atmosphere and blend reality with fantasy — and songs from over 30, 40, and 50 years ago, calling back to a time that was simpler and less hectic.
This playlist has a mix of psychedelic rock, post-rock, noise pop, instruments hip hop, microhouse, minimal techno, drum and bass, and the fuzzy sounds of the future; sounds that can remove you from your current place in the universe and transport you to a shiny, glamorous place that feels so cozy you could call it your new home.
