“Chris and Bri” an album full of love songs

"The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart" winners released their debut album

“The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart” was probably one of the weirdest and surprising experiences I’ve had watching television.

Like many people, “The Bachelor” franchise is one of my guilty pleasures. There are shows within the franchise that I enjoy more than others, but I find myself watching most, if not all, episodes of each show. When I first saw the commercial for this show, I laughed out loud. The show looked cringey and just plain strange.

It was a dating reality show and a singing competition? How does that even work? At the time it seemed like the producers were doing way too much with just one show. However, it actually worked pretty well, I just wish the season was a little bit longer so we could have gotten to know the contestants a little more.

In the album, they have five covers and five original songs. The covers were great to listen to. Even though they weren’t their original songs, the duo put their own spin on them. There are a few songs that stood out to me in particular.

“Give Me Love”

It was pretty iconic to have this song on their debut album because it was basically the reason why they won the competition. This song was teased throughout the entire season, and from the beginning viewers knew that these two would make it far, both musically and romantically.

The chemistry they have on and off the stage makes for a very organic feeling while you listen to the song. Out of the ten songs on the album, this song has the most listens.

“Found You”

This sweet ballad just made me swoon over the couple a lot more. They were the first ones in the show to say “I love you” to one another. Even though I enjoy watching these shows, I can tell that the relationships most of the time are superficial or played up to an extent.

With these two it didn’t feel that way, it felt real. Most couples on the show end up going to the infamous “Fantasy Suite” at the tail end of the show to have some alone time without cameras. It’s gotten to the point where you expect the couples to do this if they’re going to stay together. Not with these two, they decided to not go into the Fantasy Suite but still stay together. Like a “real life” relationship the two of them didn’t follow a formula that they were expected to.

“360”

Most of the songs are pretty slow and sound somewhat similar, which isn’t a bad thing. This song has a completely different sound from the rest album. Even though it has one of the lowest number of listens, I think it’s one of the best, if not the best, songs on the album.

Even though this album consists of just love songs I enjoyed it very much. I do enjoy a good love song but I don’t typically enjoy albums that consist of just that. However, I do think that this was a great move for them especially with this being their first album. They are known as the couple that won a reality show about finding love (and a music partner), and centering their album around that love is a great way to draw fans of the “The Bachelor” in.

Having this in mind, I hope that they branch outside of love song territory if they ever make another album.
