Most people say they despise country music, but I know they are lying. While most modern-day country might not be the best, I think everyone secretly loves classic country music.
Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, John Denver, David Allan Coe, Hank Williams and other classic artists have brought to us some of the best songs that we enjoy singing along to. Even a person who says they can’t stand country music can’t help but sing along to “Take Me Home Country Roads.”
There’s something about classic country that’s just so good. Maybe it’s because the artists have voices that age like fine wine, maybe it’s because back then there were hints of gospel music mixed in with great songs, or maybe it’s because the songs sound like something you would hear in a western movie.
I remember kicking back and listening to Johnny Cash, letting his smooth, baritone voice carry me away to a world of cowboys. I love singing along to “I Saw The Light” by Hank Williams and “You Never Even Call Me By My Name” by David Allen Coe.
Speaking of singing, I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people singing along to “Take Me Home, Country Roads” when it comes on. There’s something about it that makes people want to sing out loud. Play a little Gary Stewart or David Allen Coe at a bar, and you’ll see some people singing along to the lyrics.
Classic country will never go away, and the legacy it has will always remain in the spirts of fans everywhere.

The boundary label adhesive doesn't stick to great music. Northern Idaho has a substantial crowd of 'Country' fans. John Denver is not a 'Country' artist and if ever there was a boundary-free act, Johnny Cash would surely qualify and then some. I play two to four 'Country' selections in every show.
