Winthrop, Washington. A small western-themed tourist town on HWY 20, 12 miles from the Washington pass to Seattle. Home to lots of different events that happen year-round.
Every summer, there are Rodeos, parades, and an annual music festival that lasts through the second weekend in July. The 35th Annual Winthrop Rhythm & Blues Festival is back in person July 15th-17th with a full star-studded lineup three nights in a row.
Camping tickets are available online and at the front gate, there are vendors with all sorts of homemade products and food booths in the large green infield.
And a Beer Garden tent hosts the Beer Garden Jam each night from 11pm-2am with a selection of musicians that played previously during the day. An all-weekend delight, this festival pulls in guests from all over the nation, and even from other countries!
If safety is a concern, there is a security crew and field crew available all weekend. My father has been part of the field crew (called the ‘Go-To Crew’) for many years, and since I was little, I’ve been volunteering for cleanup and now I’m working as part of the Go-To crew. It’s a festival I look forward to every year. Playing in the river, bathing in the sun, and listening to good music every day is an experience I eagerly await every year.
The tickets may be pricey, but day-passes are also available, with camping and hotels available all over town. If you get the chance, check out the Winthrop Blues Festival 2022! At the Blues Ranch in July, I hope to see you there!
